Got a backflow notice from the city? Here's what it means.

That letter means the city has your building on record for a backflow preventer, and it's due for its annual test. Every municipality around Toronto requires yearly testing — it's how they protect the drinking water supply.

Don't ignore the deadline. Your letter states the compliance window. If it passes without a filed test report, the city follows up — and if your device fails, repair and re-testing take more time.

The 48-hour priority test — $250, same as a standard test. Call and we'll test your device within 48 hours, file the report with the city for you, and send you a copy for your records.

How it works:

1. You call or tap the number.

2. We come out and test — most tests take under an hour.

3. We handle the municipal filing.

4. You get the report for your records.
